About Us
Headway Teesside is a local branch of the national charity Headway, and a charity within our own right. Our aim is to help brain injury survivors and their family and friends. We appreciate that a brain injury impacts not only on the individual who has sustained it, but all of their social, family and work networks; Headway Teesside are here to help you cope and adjust to life after brain injury.
Ultimately we are a charity which aims to provide very practical help and support, and some of our past initiatives have included:
-
Drop-in sessions for survivors, families, friends and carers.
-
Activities sessions designed to rebuild confidence and key skills.
-
Social outings (including bowling, crazy golf, meals, seaside trips and many more).
We also seek to raise awareness of brain injury and the hidden symptoms that arise, as we believe that increasing awareness in the local community ultimately better assists brain injury survivors in their daily lives.
As part of this we organise training events with different groups and professionals within the local community. If you are an employer and one of your employees has suffered a brain injury, we can help you too.
We are a charity that is run by a committee for the benefit of our members; it is YOUR charity and we want you to feel involved in the decisions and direction which we take. Therefore please do come along and share your ideas. We are professionally managed but we are exceptionally welcoming and friendly to everyone.
Details of upcoming events are detailed on our Facebook Page.
